So this semester has gotten off to an okay start. It's going to be a busy one for me once again with 18 hours of classes plus research, APO, my new job :), and studying for the GRE. I'm pretty good at handling being busy though so I think I will survive.
I'm planning on taking the GRE in April if I have enough time to study for it, otherwise I will take it over the summer.
In other news I just started a new job at Home Sweet Home Ministries, an organization in Bloomington that helps homeless people. I was hired as a social services associate, which pretty much involves doing a little bit of everything. I will be learning the ropes of doing intakes, client counseling, addiction groups, life skills and pretty much whatever else needs to be done there. So far I have worked 3 days and am pretty much in love with it. I like having a job that is a little bit out of the ordinary. I also like feeling that I am doing something worthwhile. I'm almost sad to be going home over the summer because I would love to stay here and work full time. I was told that if I go home over the summer I will be allowed to come back and work next year, which will be really nice.
School is going okay. It is keeping me pretty busy as usual. Some of my classes will be pretty difficult this semester but as long as I keep up with the work I should be okay.
We got a new roommate, and so far things are going well with her. Her name is Susie and she is a junior photography major here. She isn't really here very often due to long class hours but when she is, I think she is pretty nice.
The whole wedding planning thing is going well too! We have our date, church, reception hall and dj finalized so far, so I shouldn't be too busy with any other wedding plans for awhile, which is fabulous. We are getting married on August 2, 2008 at St. Scolastica Church. The whole wedding thing still doesn't seem real to me. I'm sure it will once it gets closer though.
Overall, I am happy with my life right now. I couldn't ask for things to be better than they are right this moment! |

So I did the whole registration thing today. All in all not a bad schedule. Recently it has come to my attention that I only have 4 more classes left to take in my major then I can graduate. I can't believe I didn't realize this sooner! So I think my tentative plan right now is to graduate next fall then stay down in Bloomington the rest of the year and work and save up.
Lately I have been obsessed with the future, even though it terrifies me. I want to go to grad school, that is really the only thing I want to do after I graduate and I am completely nervous that I won't get in anywhere. I think I just need a little more self confidence or something to make me believe in myself more. |

So I had a dream that it was my 21st birthday and everyone kept telling me that they couldn't go out with me for it because they had homework. In my dream I just kept saying that no one should have homework because it was the summer. Then I found some random people to party with and I kept saying "I'm 21 dammit" over and over again.... haha. |

So, this year has basically gotten off to a completely HORRIBLE start. First, Amber bought a chinchilla without asking and I am allergic, so everyday I wake up with my eyes swollen shut and hives, and I can't breath out of my nose. Then she basically moved her boyfriend in here without asking us if it was okay. When we decided to talk to her about it, we sit down as a group to try to make a compromise and she says this, " I know what you guys are going to talk to me about and it is bullshit. You are trying to control my life and I can't take it, so I am moving out. I put ads up for a sub leaser and it could be a male or a female, I don't really care." I have never been so fucked over by someone who I considered to be a good friend. We tried to reason with her, by just asking her not to have him stay over every single night and she just wouldn't have it. So I said " You would give up a friendship just so you don't have to compromise?" and she looked me straight in the eye and said "Yes."
I am completely freaking out. I do not want to live with a guy, especially someone I don't even know! What if he turns out to be a rapist? what if the person who moves in is a complete psycho and steals all of our stuff? So I am going to do whatever it takes to make sure that no one signs the sub lease. When they come to see the apartment and meet us I am going to tell them that if they sign the lease I am going to make them miserable, and just be totally mean. Amber is not going to win this.
I can't believe after only a week of living with us she is just going to leave and not try to work things out. |

Kelly Clarkson was amazing. She did a really great job and she sounded so good! She played some new songs from her upcoming album, and they were really good so I can't wait for it to come out!!! She also chopped off her hair and she went brunette again, which looks way better than blonde. Ahhh I love her. |

10 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong
01) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.
02) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
03) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
04) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.
05) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.
06) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.
07) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
08) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.
09) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.
10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans. |
